Actress Valerie Bertinelli says the media got it wrong, she did not gain 50 pounds when she broke her foot!
Actress Valerie Bertinelli has been the target of nasty new headlines after pics of the “Hot in Cleveland” star looking heavier went viral.
At this year's Webby Awards, stars joked and gave their thoughts on whether Congressman Anthony Weiner should step down from his position in light of his sexting scandal.
Lisa Kudrow, host of the 15th Annual Webbys, said of the NY politician, "You got caught tweeting your... privates!" Actress Valerie Bertinelli scoffed, "We have Schwarzenegger being a pig and now we have a Weiner being a pig. Really?!"
"Hot in Cleveland" star Valerie Bertinelli talked to "Extra" at Paleyfest 2011 about tying the knot with longtime boyfriend Tom Vitale and being an Elton John fanatic.
Bertinelli married on New Year's Day after dating for Vitale for seven years, and she acknowledges marriage isn't easy. "We're still working on it. Communication is really key, and sometimes we don't do it very well and sometimes we do it really well," the actress confessed.
The lovely stars of "Hot in Cleveland" -- Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick -- were at The Grove to visit "Extra's" Mario Lopez and take questions from fans. One asked if fourth cast member Betty White gives them tips on how to stay hot and sexy at 89?
Cracked Malick, "She certainly has the worst diet of anybody I've ever met." Bertinelli laughed, "Licorice and hot dogs." Malick added, "Diet coke and red licorice."
All kidding aside, the castmates give White credit where it's due. "She keeps moving. She keeps her mind busy and she keeps her body busy," Bertinelli said. Leeves joined in, "I think it's her passion for everything!"

The "Hot in Cleveland" star returned 20 minutes later looking cool in a blue silk chiffon gown by David Meister and announced the "special New Year's Day bash" was really a wedding celebration, People.com reports.
The guests enjoyed the laid-back ceremony at the couple's Malibu home, where they feasted on beef tenderloin, lobster and chocolate soufflé.
In other New Year's Day nuptial news, "Hot in Cleveland" star Valerie Bertinelli and her boyfriend, financial planner Tom Vitale, were married Saturday at the couple's Malibu home.
"We're so happy!" Bertinelli, 50, told People.com after the intimate wedding in front of 100 guests.
This is Bertinelli's second marriage. The Jenny Craig spokeswoman divorced Van Halen rocker Eddie Van Halen in 2007 after 24 years of marriage; they have one son, Wolfie, now 19. Both Wolfie and Eddie were in attendance at the wedding.
"Extra" Lifechanger Valerie Bertinelli, who dropped 50 pounds on Jenny Craig, gave four pointers on how to avoid putting on weight during the Christmas holidays.
1. Trick your tummy. Bertinelli explained, "Drinking a lot of water is a good way to stay hydrated. Plus, it keeps your belly full. Have a cocktail, but then after, have a glass of water. Don't have cocktail after cocktail because those are empty calories that'll add up quickly."
2. Never go anywhere hungry. "Have a small meal before you go to a party," the actress said. "If it's just going to be where hors d'ouevres are served, you can avoid those. You don't have to constantly eat them. And if you do see a table, go for the veggies, what you know is healthy for you."
3. and 4. While on vacation, don't snack and walk after every meal. Bertinelli described her recent trip to Italy. "I didn't snack, and after our meals, we walked. I think we walked over 150 miles in 3 weeks!"
