According to the Associated Press, Carpenter was convicted on charges of receiving stolen property, theft in office and evidence tampering. Carpenter's lawyer has said they will appeal the court's decision.

Sarah Jessica Parker has two budding fashionistas on her hands!
Parker, 44, tells "Extra" that while she "can wait" until twins Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge, 6 months, get into fashion, she's happy to encourage their curiosity.
"My closet is going to turn into some sort of playroom," Parker says, "but that is fine with me, definitely."
The actress is currently promoting her new flick "Did You Hear About the Morgans?" (in theatrers Dec. 18) -- and reveals she can't wait to ditch her busy schedule for some down time with her family for the holidays.
"They gave me about six hours off and I've been working ever since," Parker jokes. "It's just great to be home with my children and my husband, and I know I'm going to see a couple of my friends tonight, and we'll get a Christmas tree over the weekend... as soon as this week is done I can focus on proper domestic activity."
Despite dishing on her Christmas plans, Parker remained mum on her New Year's resolutions.
When asked if she had set goals for 2010, Parker says, "If I did I sure wouldn't make them public... because then you'd ask me if I broke them. I make the kind of New Year's resolutions that are in the realm of possibility of being kept."
Sarah Jessica Parker tells "Extra" she loved working with Hugh Grant on "Did You Hear About the Morgans?" but she couldn't stand his "raggedy hand"!
"I did Hugh's nails every Tuesday," the actress admits. "He has a raggedy hand... and nails that looked like he clipped them with his teeth!"
A police chief was convicted of three felonies for breaking into the home of a woman who was carrying surrogate twins for Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, the Associated Press reports.
A jury found the Martins Ferry, Ohio cop, Barry Carpenter, guilty of receiving stolen property, theft in office and tampering with evidence. He was acquitted on charges of burglary and unauthorized use of property or services.
Prosecutors allege that Carpenter and a police chief from a neighboring town broke into surrogate mom Michelle Ross' home in May and tried to sell items related to her pregnancy to paparazzi.
Carpenter claimed he only went into the home because the door was open, and he wanted to check it out.

The perfume SJP NYC is a fruity floral scent which Parker describes as a "party in a bottle."
The fashionista actress tells WWD, "A large part of the inspiration was what I now understand to be people's impressions of seeing Carrie Bradshaw walk down the street and what feelings that evokes for her and for them -- a real sense of freedom and possibilities, a love for the city around her and, of course, fashion."
The fragrance features Italian mandarin, white osmanthus and wild red strawberries. It will arrive exclusively in Macy's stores this February.
