September 29, 2011 Stars Give Back

The world now has a universal logo for human rights.

Robert De Niro, Sean Penn, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ann Curry, George Clooney, Richard Gere, Nicole Kidman, and Susan Sarandon showed support for the new logo, which was unveiled in New York at a gala event Wednesday.

The logo, called "Free as a Man," was created by a freelance graphic designer from Belgrade, Serbia and chosen in an online competition from over 15,300 submissions from over 190 countries.

In Manhattan's trendy West Village, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro lived in a five-story townhouse for over 30 years. De Niro purchased the home in 1975 while filming "Taxi Driver" for $190,000 and put it on the market for $14 million.

The Oscar-winning actor sat down with NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams in a special live conversation at the Tribeca Film Fest Saturday to talk about his long career. But the political activist also spoke about current events, including Trump's national campaign questioning President Obama's birth certificate, the Huffington Post reports.

De Niro said, "I won't mention names, but certain people in the news the last couple weeks, just, what are they doing? It's crazy. They're making statements about people that they don't even back up. Go get the facts before you start saying things about people."
