At the time, Lefevre said she was "stunned" by the news.
"I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria," she said. "I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules."

"New Moon" vampire Rachelle Lefevre tells "Extra" that despite being replaced in the series, she hopes to impress during her final run as Victoria.
"I'm very, very excited," Rachelle says of her work as bloodthirsty Victoria. "They wrote a lot of fun stuff for me from 'Twilight' to 'New Moon.' In the book, Victoria is not that present and they really did their best. Melissa Rosenberg, our screenwriter, told me that she loved writing Victoria and there was great room for that. So she wrote a lot of stuff for me. I really hope it makes it into the film. You never know, because I haven't seen it."
Rachelle reveals that aside from her drama with Summit Entertainment, she hopes that her role will stay dominant in the feature film, out in November. "In light of recent events, I just really hope that my role will still be as predominant as I'd like to be in 'New Moon.' As an actor, you work really hard and give it your all."
Lefevre adds, "When I accepted my role in 'Barney's Version'... under no circumstances did I think that would cost me 'Eclipse.' I didn't know I was making a choice...Really I'm just grateful for being part of an amazing franchise."
Summit Entertainment announced in July that due to a scheduling conflict, they replaced Lefevre with Bryce Dallas Howard. The announcement stunned Rachelle -- and prompted an outpouring of support from "Twilight" fans. "I'm absolutely blown away," Lefevre says of the support. "I'm on Twitter and I remember opening up my Twitter... somehow in 140 characters my fans managed to write me things that were so unbelievable."
Rachelle adds, "Then on YouTube... a bunch of fans from all over the world made me a tribute video. This girl from Australia collected stuff from all over the world. I mean they've just been incredible. I wrote on Twitter: 'If I could travel the world and hug you all personally, I would' -- because they really carried me through."

Rachelle Lefevre and Summit Entertainment are sparring over Rachelle's comments about her role as Victoria in "Eclipse" being handed to Bryce Dallas Howard due to "scheduling conflicts."

Lefevre said she was "stunned" by the studio's decision to replace her, but Summit maintains they had no choice, due to Rachelle's commitment to indie flick "Barney's Version."
Tell "Extra" -- Which actress should play Victoria?

Rachelle Lefevre says she's "stunned" that she was dropped from the third film in the "Twilight" series, "Eclipse." Bryce Dallas Howard has replaced Lefevre in the role of Victoria.
Summit Entertainment claims Lefevre was replaced due to a scheduling conflict. Lefevre, 30, released a statement Wednesday saying, "I was stunned. I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities, and in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules."
Rachelle adds, "My commitment to Barney's Version is only 10 days. Summit picked up my option for 'Eclipse.' Although the production schedule for 'Eclipse' is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap.
"I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part," she continued. "I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate.
"I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I've received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit's surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of Eclipse only the very best."
