After struggling with ratings since taking over for “Larry King Live” three years ago, the CNN show “Piers Morgan Live” is coming to an end.
Morgan broke the news to the New York Times, saying Americans didn’t necessarily want to hear a Brit debating controversial American topics, especially Morgan’s adamant stance for gun control. “It’s been a painful period and lately we have taken a bath in the ratings,” the host admitted.
Late-night comic Chelsea Handler had some fighting words for Piers Morgan Wednesday night, and boy did the fur fly! She ripped into the CNN anchor from the get-go, asking, “What are you looking at?” Morgan replied, "Well, you've either had plastic surgery or a makeover, because you look really hot today." Ouch!
Then they went after each other’s reputations. The "Chelsea Lately" host hurled, "Oh, you're so annoying. You're so obnoxious. You wonder why everybody hates you! I specifically covered up so you couldn't look at me and undress me with your molester eyes."
Jones ranted more than debated, insisting "more guns means less crime" and firearms protect against "tyrannical government and street thugs."
CNN host Piers Morgan landed in a Twitter war with One Direction and their fans last week after recommending David Beckham retire from soccer. One Direction fans are apparently also fans of the handsome soccer star.
Soon enough, the boy band's followers had the phrase “Piers Morgan is smelly” trending worldwide. The TV personality told “Extra’s” Mario Lopez, “Nobody warned me that there are five of them and each of them has 7 or 8 million followers on Twitter. They have this army of mad fans called Directioners.”
"The fury, I really don't understand the fury," she told Piers Morgan. "I don't understand it. I don't get it... I was shocked, saddened. Not angry. Saddened and really shocked. But you know what? You can't expect everyone to agree with you.”

“Extra” host Mario Lopez spoke remotely with Piers Morgan, who is covering all the action at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
“It's very exciting,” said Morgan. “Everyone's who's anyone in the media or politics is down here. I always think politics is show business for ugly people!”
As news spread of a gunman opening fire at a midnight showing of “Dark Knight Rises” in an Aurora, Colo. movie theater in early Friday morning, killing at least 12 people, Hollywood reacted via their Twitter accounts.
Ellen DeGeneres wrote, "The news from Denver is just devastating. My heart is with the families affected by this senseless tragedy."
Olivia Munn, whose film "Magic Mike" is also in theaters now, echoed Evans' sentiment. "My sincerest condolences to the victims and families in Colorado. So sad, so mindless," she tweeted.
"America's Got Talent" judge Sharon Osbourne chatted with "Extra's" Terri Seymour at The Grove about the show's new judge, Howard Stern, and her recent Twitter feud with Piers Morgan over Madonna's Super Bowl halftime performance.
Osbourne tweeted that she thought Madonna was a queen, to which Morgan replied on Twitter, "Queen of what? Lip-synching?"
Sharon said, "He is such a miserable old Englishman. He needs a good kick in the backside. And I'm the person to do it."
As for Stern taking Piers' place on "America's Got Talent," Osbourne doesn't know what to expect. "I have no idea what kind of judge Howard is going to be -- but if he gets out of line, I'm going to put him in his place... with my foot in his a**!"
