“Extra’s” AJ Calloway was on the red carpet at the 2013 BET Awards on Sunday and asked some of the attendees what they thought of the Paula Deen racial slur scandal.
Jamie Foxx replied, “If you take someone from the Deep South, and I'm from the South, sometimes you’ve got to understand where they come from -- not to say it's right.
Kevin Hart added, “I think she made a mistake. I definitely think there should be consequences. I think they were a little severe. Taking everything away from the woman was a bit much.”

Celebrity chef Paula Deen broke down in tears on Wednesday during an interview with the “Today” show’s Matt Lauer. The anchor cut to the chase, asking Deen directly if she was a racist and if she would have fired herself over using racial slurs.apology in the interview, told Lauer she was not a racist, adding, "I believe that… every one of God’s creatures was created equal. I believe that everyone should be treated equal, that’s the way I was raised and that’s the way I live my life"
Celebrity chef Paula Deen and her family are continuing with damage control after Deen admitted to using racial slurs in a deposition filed last week.
Bobby told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Tuesday, “Our mother was under oath, asked in a deposition to pore over her entire life, and to admit whether she had ever heard or used this word,” Bobby continued. “And it broke her heart to have to answer truthfully and say yes that she had.” But, according to Bobby, “That is not her heart. It is certainly not the home that we were raised in.”
