Monday night on ABC, another explosive component was added to the highly competitive season of "Dancing with the Stars" -- singer Paula Abdul.

“I've been a fan forever,” Paula explained. “When I was on the ‘American Idol’ stage next door I would sneak-in between commercial breaks.”
“Extra’s” Terri Seymour headed to the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for Paula Abdul’s 50th birthday bash!
Seymour talked with Abdul about what advice she’d give new “X Factor” judge Britney Spears.
Singer Paula Abdul hit the town Tuesday night to celebrate the big 5-0!
For the special occasion, she dined on Mexican cuisine at Chef Rick Bayless’ Red O Restaurant on Melrose with her younger beau, John Caprio, 40, and “Extra’s” Terri Seymour. In his first and only interview, "The X Factor" judge Simon Cowell breaks his silence to "Extra's" Terri Seymour about the recent exit of judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, and host Steve Jones.
Seymour asked when Cowell and FOX execs first began discussing changes. He said, "At the beginning of the year-- and we were told it had to happen straight away."
In a shocking move for the second season of Simon Cowell's "X Factor," cast members and judges, Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul, and host Steve Jones are joining the ranks of the unemployed.

"Extra" sources reveal FOX felt the heat from NBC's wildly popular "The Voice," and felt it needed to switch things up -- something Simon had predicted during the finale. He said, "There will be changes. You have to think what the viewers like, what they didn't like... be smart."
Paula Abdul is straight up now single.

According to People, the "X Factor" judge and her record label love Jeff Bratton decided to call it quits.
"Paula and I split in November," Bratton told the magazine. "It was an amicable thing. But between the final months of 'X Factor' and my responsibilities with [my label] Cascine, there was little time for us."
Bratton says the two remain close and he will, "always be grateful for the time we shared as a couple."
The pair met in 2010 and maintained a long-distance relationship, splitting their time at Abdul's Los Angeles property and Bratton's New York home.
The first $5-million winner of "X Factor" will be revealed on Wednesday, and Simon Cowell believes Melanie Amaro will be crowned the first season champ. Cowell predicted that America will vote for Amaro based on her arsenal of crowd-pleasing songs for the evening. Cowell said, "Knowing what we've got lined up for her, song-wise, Melanie [will win]."

Simon also spoke of finalist Chris Rene, who is on L.A. Reid's team. "If you would have told me three weeks ago that he made the final, I would have been really surprised then," Cowell said.
