Talk show host, entrepreneur and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey put on a cap and gown on Thursday to receive an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from Harvard University, and then gave a commencement speech.
Winfrey, 59, told graduates they were bound to stumble, no matter how high they might rise, but that "there is no such thing as failure -- failure is just life trying to move us in another direction."In the June 2013 issue of Essence magazine, cover stars Winfrey and Tyler Perry describe the ways they've helped and inspired each other through the years.
"We both know how rare this is," Oprah told the mag. "Where else in the history of our African-American culture have two really, really successful people who can do whatever they want said, 'Let’s come together and be even more powerful -- let’s take it to the tenth power?'"When asked how he felt about being Oprah’s heir apparent, he called her “once in a lifetime,” and joked that he is “Little O.”

“I stand here at 59 years old and so happy to claim every single part of the journey… I don't understand women lying about their age and everybody dreading getting older. It makes me nuts that people get crazy about it!”

Winfrey recently made an appearance on “The Steve Harvey Show” and addressed Terrence Howard's appreciation on her "tig ol bitties” in their onscreen love scene in “The Butler.”
Oprah explained she is in the upcoming Lee Daniels movie, and that the scene “was supposed to be a little scene,” but “because Terrence Howard misbehaved, it turned into a bigger scene, and then a bigger scene. He's a misbehaving kind of boy. I heard him... he was on Twitter the other day talking about my breasteses."
Promoting his film, “Dead Man Down,” Howard talked to MovieFanatic.com about his other upcoming film, “The Butler,” in which he and Winfrey have a love affair.
"Oprah and I had such chemistry. To be able to make out with Oprah and to have love scenes with her and those tig ol' bitties,” Howard laughed. “She's such a voluptuous woman. She’s very, very beautiful. That was wonderful."

“Extra’s” Renee Bargh caught up with Oprah Winfrey at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon on Thursday, where the television host and network owner was honored with the Power Award.
Winfrey revealed that she has been reading the magazine since she was a child and that it was the “first national magazine to launch my face.” She even got a surprise in 1986 when the publication revealed how much money she would make that year.
