Nicole Richie shows off her 6-week-old son Sparrow on the cover of People magazine -- and the proud mama declares, "I couldn't be happier."
Richie and BF Joel Madden are now parents of two -- daughter Harlow is now almost 2. Nicole tells the mag that her focus is on family now. "The only thing you want is for your kids to be healthy and happy, and they are. I'm right where I belong."
Nicole, 28, and Joel, 30, admit that they're "sleep deprived," but are grateful that daughter Harlow has welcomed her little brother with open arms. "I'm glad I had a girl before I had a boy," says Richie. "She just loves him so much." Joel chimes in, "She's very gentle with him."

According to TMZ, the former "Simple Life" star was out and about in Beverly Hills when a shutterbug rear-ended her car. Sources on the scene tell the website that Richie is in pain -- and will see her private doctors for treatment.
The report claims the driver of the other car is being cited for driving without a license, and his car is being impounded.
Nicole Richie is now a mother of two! The former reality show starlet and her longtime boyfriend Joel Madden welcomed son Sparrow James Midnight Madden early Wednesday morning.
He weighs a healthy 7 lbs. 14 oz. and the couple wrote on their website that they are "doing well."
Richie and Madden also have a 20-month-old daughter, Harlow Winter Kate Madden.
Friends, family and fans remembered DJ AM Thursday at a memorial service at the Hollywood Palladium. Ex girlfriend Hayley Wood, former fiancée Nicole Richie and friends John Mayer, Lindsay Lohan, Samantha Ronson, Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart were all in attendance.
Hundreds of invited guests attended the Palladium memorial. In October, Adam Goldstein made his return to the turntables there after surviving a plane crash in September 2008.
"He was my soulmate and now he is my soul," Wood said at the 2 1/2-hour memorial. "He is my amazing grace."
Goldstein was found dead in his NYC apartment on Aug. 28. He was 36.
Nicole Richie is pregnant with her second child by beau Joel Madden, but confesses that the lovebirds aren't in any rush to get married.
The socialite dished about her relationship with the Good Charlotte rocker on "Larry King Live," saying that while she and Joel want to tie the knot, they don't feel the need to do so just because they're having a second child. "I think for both of us, we are going to do it because we want to, not because that's what you do," Nicole said.
Richie was joined by her father Lionel Richie on the program, where the singer gushed about Nicole's transformation from party girl to Hollywood mama. "I'm so proud of her right now -- there is such a pride that she has turned this corner. She is an amazing mother. I want the world to know where she is."
Nicole gave birth to daughter Harlow in January 2008.

The Environmental Media Association and L.A. Unified School District have teamed up to support organic gardens and greenery in urban schools -- and ambassadors Nicole Richie, Amy Smart and Anna Getty lent a green thumb! Check out the Hollywood stars getting their hands dirty for a good cause.

The Environmental Media Association (EMA) and the Los Angeles Unified School District have teamed up with personal care brand Yes To Inc. to support the planting of organic gardens and greenery in urban schools. The EMA board members, including Amy Smart, Nicole Richie, Maroon 5, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rosario Dawson, Matthew Rhys, Lance Bass, Emily VanCamp, Anna Getty, Olivia Wilde, Carter Oosterhouse and more, have each offered to adopt a school to raise awareness for the program and help teach kids about environmental education. The program is scheduled to launch in early summer.
"We celebrate the dedication faculty members and students of LAUSD have to the environment," said EMA President Debbie Levin. "It is vital that we continue to foster an ongoing message of education and social and environmental responsibility."
