UPDATE: Nick Cannon reacted to the rumors on Wednesday, telling “Extra’s” Terri Seymour, “I haven’t heard that, but I think my wife is so focused on the future, what she is doing with her new album. She has such a good time with this show. Some people do it because that’s all they have, she did it because she thought it would be fun. If she continues to do it, I think she’s going to be great and if not, who knows.”
The Hollywood Reporter broke the story, claiming “American Idol” producers allegedly tried to revive the show by replacing Mariah Carey with former judge Jennifer Lopez. Sources told the mag that Carey’s team killed the plan by threatening litigation, however, show insiders say the entire story is bogus.
