Country pop singer Taylor Swift is doing what she can to help the flood victims in her hometown of Nashville -- by donating a whopping $500,000!

"Being at home during the storm, I honestly could not believe what was happening to the city and the people I love so dearly," Swift, 20, told AP in an email. "Nashville is my home, and the reason why I get to do what I love. I have always been proud to be a Nashvillian, but especially now, seeing the love that runs through this city when there are people in crisis."
Country music star Kenny Chesney is calling out for help in the wake of severe flooding in Tennessee.
He sent a Twitpic of himself Wednesday to CNN's Anderson Cooper, standing knee-deep in water on the steps of his Nashville home. Chesney appeared on the news network later that day to talk about the damage.

Kenny Chesney wants the world to know he's still a Southern gentleman. The cowboy is dismissing claims that he cozied up to Jessica Simpson during a Fourth of July bash.
"Tony's a friend, and I wouldn't flirt with a buddy's girlfriend," Chesney revealed to People magazine. "More importantly, Jessica was just being sweet and there was nothing else to it. It's not funny. There were no problems. Everybody got along great. After the party, everybody went their own way and nobody thought anything more about it. Period. End of story."
Kenny also lamented about how the country singers couldn't chat without things blowing out of proportion. "If a girl and her boyfriend can't go to someone's house for a Fourth of July party and talk to the other guests without it turning into a big nightmare... then I feel really sorry for Jessica and Tony, who're both really nice people."
Simpson and Romo split five days after the party. Yesterday, a friend close to Jessica called the report about the crooner getting close to Chesney "absurd."

In an attempt to shed light on the breakup of Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson, a report today claims that Romo split after Jessica was caught flirting with Kenny Chesney!
According to Star magazine, Simpson was flaunting her bikini body and flirting with country star Kenny Chesney right in front of Tony at Santa Rosa Beach in Florida over the Fourth of July weekend. The NFL star broke up with the singer a few days later.
A source close to Jessica slams the report as "absurd."
"American Idol" alum Carrie Underwood took the wheel at the Academy of Country Music Awards, winning the coveted Top Entertainer award that hasn't been held by a woman since the Dixie Chicks won in 2000.
"I accepted that award on behalf of myself and my fans, but also on behalf of other women who came before me that kicked butt but never got the recognition they deserved," Carrie dished to AP. "I can't wait for the day, which I hope is in the very near future, where having females in the category is no big deal whatsoever."
The 26-year-old country cutie is one of only seven women who have nabbed the honor in the 39 years that the awards ceremony has recognized a top entertainer. Carrie broke Kenny Chesney's four-year winning streak -- and the country superstar gave Underwood a kiss as she walked onstage to accept the award. "He told me he was proud of me," Carrie said.
Taylor Swift didn't walk away empty-handed -- the 18-year-old sensation won Album of the Year for her second album, "Fearless." Swift excitedly told reporters backstage, "I labored over this album for two years. The fact that you can write songs in your bedroom about your feelings and boys and can win Album of the Year at the ACMs -- I just didn't think that was possible."
