The "Stand Up to Cancer" telethon Friday was an opportunity for Hollywood A-listers to stand up for those who have had or are now battling the disease, including Michael Douglas.

"He's one of my favorite actors ever," actor Rob Lowe told "Extra's" Lauren Sanchez. "One of my favorite people ever, and he's got everything going for him. Everything."

"Stand Up to Cancer" Co-Founder Katie Couric added, "I think he's remarkably courageous. I think he's so brave to talk candidly and openly about his situation."

Network anchors Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer and Brian Williams are set to host the "Stand Up to Cancer" telecast in an effort to raise awareness -- and more importantly, money -- for cancer research.

The hour-long show will be simulcast commercial-free on September 10 at 8:00 PM (ET/PT) by CBS, ABC and NBC and other cable networks, including HBO, Discovery Health, E!, MLB Network and The Style Network.

Couric, 52, tells "Extra" that she's dressing as one of the Gosselin sextuplets for Halloween.

"I met Kate and she seems very nice," Couric dished to "Extra," adding, "and I told her I was gonna be Aaden, and she said, 'You have to make sure you wear the glasses at the end of your nose.'"

The CBS Evening News anchor also revealed that she'd hit the stage for "Dancing with the Stars" to tone up.

"The only reason I'd go on 'Dancing with the Stars' is because I would have to get in really good shape," she says.

But Couric admits she's "happier watching [the show] in my pajamas around my kitchen table eating ice cream!"
