Hugh Hefner gave "Extra" a personal tour of his famous residence -- the Playboy Mansion. The publisher wore his signature silk pajamas for an interview about his public breakup, his autobiography and the latest issue of the sexy mag. What is the Playboy founder's favorite part of the almost 22,000 sq. ft. home? "No question -- the bedroom. I do my best work in the bedroom."
Hefner admits he was heartbroken over his split with longtime girlfriend Holly Madison. "I was blindsided by the breakup... but Holly was looking for something more that I couldn't give her. She was looking for marriage and children." Hefner eventually moved on -- with two times the trouble. "Within two weeks, a pair of twins arrived and it turned out they were interested in being my girlfriends... Several girlfriends are easier to handle than one wife."
Hef talked about his autobiography, "Mr. Playboy," that lets readers into a life filled with luxury, women and sex. The author was not the least bit embarrassed about the book's most shocking revelation. "Probably an incident that occurred back in the late seventies where I almost swallowed a sex toy."
Sex icon Marilyn Monroe was the first to grace the cover of Playboy. This month's 55th anniversary issue features Carmen Electra. Hef has his eyes on two of Hollywood's married women for future issues. "Either Angelina Jolie or Scarlett Johansson."

From "Girl Next Door" -- to leaving the Playboy Mansion! Holly Madison reveals to "Extra" why her romance with Hef went sour. Plus, "Extra" was in Las Vegas with Madison as she prepped for Halloween -- and catches her with magician Criss Angel! Are they really an item?
Hugh Hefner's girlfriend (one of them) of seven years, Holly Madison, came only to "Extra" to talk about her split with the Playboy mogul -- and answer rumors she's dating magician Criss Angel!
"I'm just kind of sad about my breakup with Hef," Holly admits. "I wish he would have seen it coming. Everybody was surprised when it happened because even though I was unhappy for a long time, the split happened suddenly... The signs were there. I was depressed for awhile."
So why did Holly and Hef split after seven years? "I want to be with somebody I can have more of a future with eventually," the "Girl Next Door" reveals. "Hef and I can't get married and have kids... so it was fun while it lasted but it wasn't right for my old age. I got too old for Hef."
Even though their relationship is on the outs, Madison told "Extra" that she's still living at the mansion! "I've been staying in the guest room -- Hef was kind enough not to kick me out of the house," said Holly, "but my condo should be ready soon."
Holly and Hef don't have a romantic future together, but where does that leave the two in terms of their business relationship? "I still work for him," said Madison. "We're still best friends. I still call and check in on him almost every day."
Madison also put in her two cents about reports the magazine mogul is dating 19-year-old twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon. "He does not waste any time, but I'm happy for him. I want him to be busy and happy and having fun." She adds, "It might be refreshing to date someone who is not high maintenance. Sorry, Hef, you know you're high maintenance. I love you but you know you're high maintenance."
Holly waltzed around Sin City hand-in-hand with rumored beau Criss Angel. When "Extra" asked the couple if they were dating, Criss exclaimed, "You want the exclusive? We're good friends and we love spending time with each other." He added, "Friends with benefits, yeah!"
Holly Madison has made it clear that she wanted to have children with ex Hugh Hefner. But did the bodacious blonde get a little help from science?
This one is true! In Touch Weekly says the "Girls Next Door" babe did everything she could to have mini Hefs of her own. She even tried fertility treatments.
Hugh Hefner may be saying sayonara to current girlfriends Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson -- but don't expect the Playboy mogul to live alone in an empty house.
Hef confirmed to AP that twin Playmates Karissa and Kristina Shannon, 19, have moved into the mansion, but he's not dating them -- yet. "It's now apparent there will be some new faces in my personal life and on the show," he said.
Hugh confirmed his split with Holly, saying, "If Holly says it's over, I guess it's over."
Fellow "Girl Next Door" Kendra admitted things were over between her and Hef on the Chelsea Handler show Tuesday night -- and confirmed she was now seeing pro-football player Hank Baskett.
The 82-year-old magazine publisher has been down due to the house changes -- but remains optimistic for the future. He said, "There's been moments that I've been down in the dumps about all this, and (my personal assistant) Mary told me to cheer up and pointed out that there are girls lined up outside the front gate. At my age, that's hard to believe, but it seems to be true."
