1. "American Idol" alum Katharine McPhee rose to fame on the fifth season of the singing competition in 2006, when she finished as the runner-up to Taylor Hicks. Her self-titled album's first single, "Over It," was certified gold in 2008. The singer also booked TV guest-star spots and film roles, including "The House Bunny," all while releasing new albums. "Smash" is McPhee's first recurring role in a TV series.
Debra Messing and Daniel Zelman have called it quits after 10 years, but still plan to live together to raise their 7-year-old son, according to US Weekly. How graceful.
The couple's rep said, "The separation was entirely mutual. They have been a couple for over twenty years, and the nature of their relationship simply changed over time."

Actress Debra Messing is returning to the small screen in a new series entitled "Smash," which debuts in February 2012.
The show revolves around a group of characters who come together to put on a Broadway musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe.
