Director David O. Russell and his romantic comedy “Silver Linings Playbook” were the big winners at the 2013 Independent Spirit Awards, picking up awards for Best Feature, Director, Screenplay and Female Lead (Jennifer Lawrence).
In the acting categories, John Hawkes nabbed Best Male Lead, while his “Sessions” co-star Helen Hunt took home Best Supporting Female. Matthew McConaughey won Best Supporting Male for his turn in “Magic Mike.”

The Directors Guild of America President Taylor Hackford today announced the five nominees for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2010.
The nominees include: Darren Aronofsky for "Black Swan"; David Fincher for "The Social Network"; Tom Hooper for "The King's Speech"; Christopher Nolan for "Inception"; and David O. Russell for "The Fighter."

This is the first DGA nod in feature film for Aronofsky, Hooper and Russell, while Nolan and Fincher are previous nominees.
