"American Idol" finalist Danny Gokey has a message for ABC -- he's willing to try "Dancing with the Stars"! From one reality show to another! Just like Melissa Rycroft?!
The widowed 29-year-old former church director says he wants to try the dance competition because the "Idol" judges regularly criticized his moves.
After Gokey was voted off "Idol," he returned to his hometown of Milwaukee, where he will continue to raise awareness and money for his charity, Sophia's Heart Foundation.
His number one priority continues to be music. He's begun writing songs for an album, but says he would consider joining "Dancing" to get the word out about the foundation. He'll be on tour with the rest of the "Idols" this summer.
The spotlight has faded on Danny Gokey, leaving "American Idol" hopefuls Kris Allen and Adam Lambert as the finalists who will battle it out for the title!
Gokey, a widower and 29-year-old church music director, had been a strong contender in the singing competition since week one -- regularly impressing the judges with his vocals. On Monday, Danny's heartfelt rendition of Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful" was labeled "stunning" by Kara, and "a vocal master class" by Simon.
During the results show, "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest revealed that only 1 million votes out of 88 million cast separated Kris and Adam, which suggests that Allen may have a better chance against Lambert than the public and media originally thought.
Lambert has been considered the frontrunner for weeks now, and Katy Perry showed some love for the 27-year-old San Diego native last night! The "I Kissed a Girl" singer performed on the show, wearing a cape stitched with Adam's name.
Will Adam be crowned champ as so many media outlets have suggested? Will Kris turn it out with the biggest "Idol" upset in history? Tune in to FOX next week!
"American Idol" is down to the final three -- and tonight Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey, and Kris Allen each performed two songs in the hopes of making it to next week's final!
All three of the final contestants each sang a song of their choice, and a tune chosen by the judging panel. The judges swooned over Adam's rendition of U2's "One," which Simon chose and called "brilliant." The judges were equally impressed with Allen's performance of Kanye West's "Heartless" -- Randy Jackson declared that Kris' version was "better than the original." Danny's heartfelt rendition of Joe Crocker's "You Are So Beautiful" was labeled "stunning" by Kara, and "a vocal master class" by Simon.
All three semifinalists nailed their performances, but one hopeful has to be cut! Tell "Extra" -- who should be sent home?
Only four rockers are left in the competition to become the next "American Idol" -- and it looks like frontrunner Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta aren't going anywhere after their stellar duet!
Adam, Allison, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen all performed solos and duets for the rock-themed show, but it was Adam and Allison's performance of Foghat's "Slow Ride" that impressed the judges. "In the battle of duets, you win the show tonight," Simon told the singers, adding that Lambert may have given Iraheta, 17, a chance to stay in the competition.
Unsurprisingly, Adam nailed his Led Zeppelin solo, for which Kara DioGuardi labeled him "a rock god." Simon chimed in, "The problem is, nobody can top that now." Kara, Paula, Randy and Simon felt that Allison's solo fell short, and she chose the wrong song, which made the wine-haired teen bristle.
Danny and Kris gave their all to their duet "Renegade." While Randy and Kara enjoyed their voices together, Simon said that Allen paled in comparison to Gokey.
The judging panel harshly criticized Allen for his solo performance of the Beatles' "Come Together." Cowell compared the rendition to "eating ice for lunch... meaning it leaves you with nothing to remember afterward." Danny also received a mediocre response from the judges after belting Aerosmith's "Dream On," with a massive scream at the end, which Simon likened to a horror movie.
Which "Idol" has the chops to make it to the top? "American Idol" airs tonight on FOX.
The four judges couldn't save Matt Giraud on "American Idol" on Wednesday night. The 23-year-old received the lowest number of votes and was in the bottom, surprisingly with the widely favored front-runner, Adam Lambert.
Two weeks earlier, the panel of judges decided to use their one-time save when Giraud was set to go home. Last night's performers included a jazzy number by Natalie Cole, and then mentor Jamie Foxx who sang his hit "Blame It." Former "Idol" winner Taylor Hicks also sang.
Next week's rock-themed show will feature mentor and guitar god Slash. The remaining finalists are Lambert, Kris Allen, Danny Gokey and Allison Iraheta.
|The "American Idol" men looked snazzy last night during their Rat Pack themed performances! Adam Lambert went flashy (like always) in a white satin get up, while Danny Gokey and Matt Giraud wore more toned-down suits with subtle embellishments like a pocket square cool-cat fedora.
