Pumping, running, jumping and spinning … think you have to work up a sweat to work out? Not anymore.

Lots of people are using the Lotte Berk method to banish their bulges and never break a sweat. Lotte Berk combines ballet, yoga, modern dance and stretching. Elizabeth Halffpap has been teaching this method for 30 years and she's convinced strengthening and lengthening the body is the key to a fit figure and perfect posture.
She says, “Our number one goal is to keep people out of pain and to reshape their body aesthetically.”
Sooze Suague wanted to lose weight after she packed on pounds. Running and race walking left her feeling stiff. She says, “I couldn't touch my finger tips to the floor any more. I really lost a lot of my flexibility. I couldn't believe it till I got here.”
Kelly Levisee wanted a pain free exercise program that was strenuous but safe. She says, “I’m really prone to injuries. My knees, my shins when I run, even yoga I’ve had shoulder problems.”
They both like a lot about Lotte, like no heavy lifting, no strain on your muscles, no pounding, no pain. But best of all, you get stronger while reducing your stress. So what's the catch?
Well, during a one-hour workout, you have to hold the Lotte Berk pose. Hips tucked, abs in, chest out; that way with arm raises, two pounds feel more like 20. Reverse pushups target the shoulder and back. Ballet moves build the legs and butt and ball curls tighten the tummy.
Kelly says, “I feel stretched and loose and I also feel incredibly strong. I have muscles and that's a good feeling!
The bottom line on Lotte Berk? It's a lot of work, but no sweat.
