'American Idol'

Kelly Clarkson took a break from her "Idol" duties and headed home to Burleson, Texas where she got yet another dose of superstardom, from meeting her American idol, Donny Osmond to hanging out with old friends. One says, "It's an awkward transition from hanging with your best friend, and now the whole world knows her."

Kelly Clarkson has proven the term: don't mess with Texas. And while Kelly traveled the lone star state, our special correspondent Simon had this to say only to "Extra." He says, "Kelly reminds me of Mariah Carey with a Patsy Cline charm. If that makes any sense."

And Simon says tonight's crucial performances will be a battle beyond anything we've seen. He says, "One sings great one week and the other comes back the other week and tries to out do the other. It's a battle of the divas. I love it."
