Congrats to the "Harry Potter" cast for making the top spot in "Extra's" Entertainer of the Year poll!
It makes sense that this enduring, magical franchise would rank the highest, since the books and movies have been entertaining people for over a decade. With the release of the first book, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" in 1997, author JK Rowling spurred the imagination of millions with her fantastical world of witches and wizards, centering on one boy who survives an attack by the world's most powerful and evil wizard, Lord Voldemort -- and spends the rest of his childhood battling him.
The first film was released in 2001 and introduced young newcomer Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, along with Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as Harry's stalwart best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. Through the course of the next nine years, audiences watched these talented three grow up, supported by a laundry list of British A-listers, including Michael Gambon, Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, Ralph Fiennes, Imelda Staunton, Emma Thompson, Gary Oldman, Jim Broadbent, Jason Isaacs, Helena Bonham Carter and more.
The seventh and final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," sees the final conflict between Harry and Lord Voldemort come to an end -- and Warner Bros. announced the book would be split into two movies. Part I opens wide today and Part II in July, 2011.

Ah, the ultimate love triangle between vampire, werewolf and human! "The Twilight Saga" cast flies in at No. 2 on "Extra's" Entertainer of the Year list.
Stephenie Meyer's bestselling novels -- about a girl named Bella Swan who falls in love with vampire Edward Cullen, while also forging a close friendship with werewolf Jacob Black -- made the tween set (and their mothers) swoon, launching a literary phenomenon in 2005 on a par with "Harry Potter."
And then came the films. When the first "Twilight" movie was released in 2008, young stars Kristen Stewart ("Bella") and Robert Pattinson ("Edward") were catapulted into teen idol-dom, with hunky Taylor Lautner ("Jacob") following their path in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" in 2009.
This past summer, the third film, "Eclipse," opened to huge numbers, grossing over $300 million domestically. The highly anticipated fourth book, "Breaking Dawn," will now be made into two movies, to be released in 2011 and 2012.
