The A List
When Russell Crowe agreed to play Superman’s father in “Man of Steel,” he had no idea what he was signing up for.
He told “Extra’s” Terri Seymour, “I didn’t realize I was getting the spandex as well, which was a bit of a holy s**t moment!”“Extra’s” Mario Lopez sat down with Carrie Fisher at her home, where she opened up about her battle with bipolar disorder.
Fisher explained how the disorder went out of control on a recent cruise. “My medication had a little problem with itself. I happened to be on stage with one of my dogs. It was a very eccentric moment, but you have problems with medication and you can have… It’s a balance issue. I went out of balance in public.”
After Madonna accepted her Top Touring Artist prize at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, the superstar sat down exclusively with “Extra’s” Jerry Penacoli, and opened up about her family, her Met Gala photo with Kim Kardashian and her feud with Elton John.
Rocking a bodysuit and thigh-high tights, Madonna talked with Penacoli about her “MDNA” tour and working with her children, Lourdes, 16, and Rocco, 12. “It was great to have a working family… to me that’s my idea of fun, to be creative, to do what I love to do and see my kids working around me and earning their way in life. My daughter worked in the costume department and she loved it. My son was in the show, and he loved it.”“Extra’s’ AJ Calloway sat down with Michael Douglas at the Cannes Film Festival, where his HBO biopic "Behind the Candelabra" is set to premiere.
Douglas opened up to Calloway about his role as Liberace, and talked about his battle with throat cancer and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones’ ongoing, proactive treatment for bipolar disorder.
As for playing the flamboyant Liberace, the actor said he never hesitated for a moment. “You’ve got to put it in perspective… coming off of the cancer, I was just happy to be alive, and then someone hands me one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. Steven Soderbergh tells me he’s going to direct, Jerry Weintraub is going to produce, Matt Damon is going to be my co-star… AND I get to play Liberace! I was like, ‘Aw, baby this is to good to be true!’ I was ready for some good luck.”
Singer/actress Jennifer Lopez sat down with “Extra’s” Mario Lopez in NYC to chat about appearing on the “American Idol” finale on Thursday. She also opened up about her busy life, including buying a mansion in the Hamptons.
J.Lo would not confirm or deny if she’ll return as a judge on “Idol” next season, but she did say it was great being back on the set for the finale. “It was fun. It was great to see the team there. They were like, ‘We miss you!’ I was like, ‘I miss you, too!’”
“Extra’s” Mario Lopez sat down with Britney Spears for an exclusive interview, in which the singer opened up about staying in shape, keeping up with sons Sean, 7, and Jayden, 6, and what’s next in her career.
Spears, who graced this month’s cover of Shape magazine, explained her routine. “I really love doing yoga. I have two separate trainers that come in and we play with it. I don’t like doing the same thing all the time, but my main ritual is yoga. I do a lot of yoga.”Eva, who executive produced the reality TV show, said, “I’m always ready for love. Apparently, I’m ready for love with everybody because I’m linked to everybody. People always want to make assumptions on your life, and so when I started to produce a show about love, then all of a sudden love became the topic for me.”
Longoria’s next TV producing project is “Devious Maids,” which premieres in June on Lifetime.
“Extra’s Jerry Penacoli sat down with Leonardo DiCaprio to chat about his new role in “The Great Gatsby,” turning 40, and whether he sees marriage in his future.
“It’s one of the most celebrated novels of all time, its classic American literature,” he said of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic. “What makes ‘The Great Gatsby’ great is everyone has their own interpretation of these characters… it’s a very voyeuristic novel.”
