‘The Leftovers’ on HBO (June 29)
Who: Justin Theroux and Amy Brenneman
What: When 2% of the world's population abruptly disappears without explanation, the world struggles to understand just what they're supposed to do about it. The new drama series “The Leftovers” is the story of the people who didn't make the cut.
‘Extant’ on CBS (July 9)
Who: Halle Berry and Camryn Manheim
What: Berry plays an astronaut who returns home from a year-long solo mission in space and tries to reconnect with her husband and son in their everyday life. Her experiences in space and home lead to events that will ultimately change the course of human history.
'The Strain on FX (July 13)
Who: Corey Stoll, David Bradley and Kevin Durand
What: “The Strain” is a high-concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism.
'Married' on FX (July 17)
Who: Judy Greer and Nat Faxon
What: Russ and Linda Bowman can barely remember what life was like before kids, debt, and suburbia rained on their romance, but every once in a while, in between arguments about their declining sex life and who's driving carpool, they are reminded what drew them together in the first place... they're best friends.
‘Outlander’ on Starz (Aug. 9)
Who: Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan and Tobias Menzies
What: “Outlander” follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened.
