Mariah Carey on ‘Idol’ Contestants and Anniversary Plans

February 20, 2013 American Idol
“Extra’s” Terri Seymour caught up with “American Idol” judges Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson in Las Vegas, where the top 40 will be narrowed down to 20 in the show’s first-ever sudden death battle.

Jackson explained, “What it means is that 10 people sing and five people have to go that night.” Carey added, “What they're up against is incredibly difficult, and I don't envy them because I like had to learn how to perform on TV, you know, on ‘Arsenio Hall.’”

The superstar will soon be celebrating her fifth wedding anniversary with hubby Nick Cannon… at Disneyland? Mariah smiled, “That might be correct! Well, last year, we celebrated by renewing our vows on the top of the Eiffel Tower and that was like pretty amazing.”

Tune in to FOX tonight to watch the “American Idol” sudden death round!

This sudden death battle was shocking and definitely cut throat but so interesting to watch. It was obvious who had experience being on TV and who didn’t. They threw them into the band and it was a high pressure situation. On a side note, since my favorite form of entertainment is TV and Idol my favorite show, I’m glad that I get to watch more of it now before I go back to work at DISH the next day. I use my DISH AutoHop to watch Idol because it skips ads since Idol is a PrimeTime Anytime show, and then I can relax with more TV shows watched at the end of the night.
