Beyoncé: I Gained 57 Pounds While Pregnant with Blue Ivy
The uber-private Beyoncé is opening up about her personal life -- including how much weight she gained while pregnant with Blue Ivy -- in a revealing new interview on OWN’s “Oprah’s Next Chapter.” The chat about life and love will air on Saturday, February 16th, just before Bey’s HBO documentary, “Life Is But a Dream.”
In new clips from the O and Bey sit down, the “Single Ladies” singer reveals that she didn’t bounce back after Blue Ivy’s birth quite as quickly as she had expected.
"I did a show three months after giving birth, which was crazy," she said. "I had clearly never given birth, and I didn't know that I would gain 60 pounds… 57 pounds."
Ultimately, Beyoncé wanted to know if she still had the passion for performing, and now says, "I feel so fortunate to do my job. I love my job. I love singing. I love the way it feels."
Knowles also gives Winfrey a little insight into her love life. The 31-year-old superstar admits she was just friends with her now hubby Jay-Z Carter for more than a year before they started dating.
"I would not be the woman I am if I did not go home to that man," she said, adding that their marriage is her "foundation."
Queen Bey also admitted that she took Oprah’s early advice about not publicly discussing her dating life “as far as I could take it.” Winfrey laughed and said, “You can tell people who you are married to, okay.”
Oprah’s interview and the documentary will air back-to-back on Saturday, Feb. 16 with the interview starting at 8 PM on OWN and the movie at 9 PM on HBO.
