Countdown to Oscar Nominations: ‘Extra’ with Cooper, Hathaway and Affleck

January 09, 2013 Academy Awards
With less than 24 hours until the 2013 Oscar nominations are announced, “Extra’s” AJ Calloway caught up with some of the expected Oscar contenders at the National Board of Review Awards Gala.

“Silver Linings Playbook” star Bradley Cooper said he wouldn’t be watching the nominations, laughing, “I think I'm going to be running or something. I’ve got to see if there's a 5:30 AM Soul Cycle class.”

Ben Affleck, director and star of “Argo,” said, “I think you just have to play your life as if it's going to go on normally so that you don't get too upset if things don't happen and you can get excited if they do.”

“Zero Dark Thirty’s” Jessica Chastain is trying to avoid the early morning announcements, “I’ll be on an airplane… and then everyone keeps saying, ‘There's Wi-fi!’”

Anne Hathaway, who wowed with her performance in “Les Miserables,” explained, “I was nominated once before, and I was just dating my husband. I wasn't with him that day, and this time I'll be with him so that'll be nice. Whatever happens he can either comfort me or cheer with me.”

Calloway commented on how he liked Hathaway’s short hairdo, and would she be keeping it? Anne smiled, “Ahh, I don't really have a choice. Probably someday if I have a baby, all those vitamins will make it grow, but who knows?”

Realizing what she just said, she corrected, “I talked about my hair growing, that's all we're talking about!”

The 2013 Oscar nominations will be announced Thursday at 8:30 AM ET/5:30 AM PT.
