Dolly Parton Defends Close Friendship, Denies Lesbian Rumors
Country singer Dolly Parton says she's not a lesbian, in response to rumors that the Nashville star is in a very close relationship with best friend, Judy.
In a recent interview with “Nightline,” Parton explained that like Oprah Winfrey and best friend Gayle King, she and Judy are just friends.
"Like Gayle [King], her friend, Judy, my friend, they just think that you just can't be that close to somebody," Parton said. "Judy and I have been best friends since we were like in the third and fourth grade… We still just have a great friendship and relationship and I love her as much as I love anybody in the whole world, but we're not romantically involved."
The rumors, however, don't stop there.
"I've... been accused of being involved with every man I'm ever seen with or worked with," said Parton, who has been married to Carl Dean for 46 years. "Maybe I have, maybe I ain't. I never tell if I have. But you know people always saying that."
The singer/songwriter is currently promoting her motivational memoir, “Dream More,” available in stores nationwide.
