“Extra’s” Renee Bargh caught up with Usher backstage at the 2012 American Music Awards right after the star accepted the award for Favorite Male Artist Soul/R&B.

Usher opened up to Bargh about living life in the public eye and his new gig on “The Voice.”

Bargh asked the R&B singer if he had any advice for Justin Bieber, whose relationship with Selena Gomez has recently been the focus of media attention. Usher replied, “The truth is on one can ever understand the reality of the life we live. We are humans, humans have frailties… humans have ups and downs.”

Usher also talked being a coach on the upcoming season of “The Voice.” “It’s great, I love it. I love Shakira, Blake is like a big brother to me, a big country brother to me, and Adam, he got a few wins I am mad about, but I’m really happy to be on the show.”
