Actress Taryn Manning, best known for her role as Eminem's ex-girlfriend in "8 Mile," was charged with misdemeanor assault Friday after attacking her personal assistant, reports the NY Daily News.

Manning reportedly choked her assistant early Friday morning in an NYC hotel room and spent the next 24 hours in jail before being released.

Her lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, said the incident was not an assault, just "a little misunderstanding between the two."

The 33-year-old "Hustle & Flow" actress is due back in court November 13.
