'DWTS' Recap: Shawn Johnson Flips, Bristol Palin Flops
On Monday night's episode of "Dancing with the Stars," the all-star celebrities had complete creative control, and the pressure was on for this week's double elimination. Gymnast Shawn Johnson and partner Derek Hough stepped up their game while Bristol Palin broke down backstage.
Shawn and Derek kicked off their routine with rule-breaking flips off trampolines and ended by jumping off the stage onto mats. Their performance received a two-minute standing ovation and was called the "best dance of all 15 seasons" by judge Bruno Tonioli.
On the other side of the ballroom, Bristol Palin faced a rough patch in rehearsals, telling partner Mark Ballas, "I know you're bummed that you don't have Sabrina (Bryan) or Shawn (Johnson)… I feel like you're just bummed that you have me as a partner."
Mark replied, "What does Sabrina or Shawn have to do with this?" -- and the two went on to please fans with a chess-inspired Paso Doble, deemed "her best dance of the season" by judge Len Goodman.
Last week, Bristol was sent a suspicious package with the reported threat attached, "Get rid of Bristol Palin or else." When asked about the incident, the politician's daughter told "Extra," "I feel safe here. That's all that matters."
The evening came to an end with shocking news from host Tom Bergeron about a new guest judge. "Paula Abdul will pick up her paddles and score dances for the first time on live TV."
Watch ABC tonight as two couples are sent home.

Melissa, Kelly & Shawn were fabulous! It was so much fun to watch!
I would bet almost anything that the threat to Palin was made by a Republican. The timing would be just right to make the Democrats look really bad...it's so obvious. With Palin it's not about the dancing...it's all political. And, if it was a Democrat, then shame on you because that's the kind of behavior we are struggling against!
How is it possible that an inept, talent-less, no self confidence whiner like Bristol Palin can continue to be "retained" on DWTS!?!?!?
This defies common sense and practical judgement. Methinks there is "fudged voting" involved.
Last night we were treated to such good performances that I would have thought it was the final if I didn’t know. Shawn and Derek might have broken some rule, but I can guarantee that none of the voters care about that. I was talking to a coworker at DISH about the show, and she thinks that Bristol’s fight with Mark was yet another attempt to rally her fan base. I really hope that she finally gets eliminated this time after having the lowest score for the first 3 weeks. I missed the first part of the show because I was watching Bones with my boys, but thankfully my Hopper recorded it for Primetime Anytime. I love that I can keep up with my favorite shows as well as my sons’ without worrying about setting timers. I am so glad that I was able to see it all because I think it was the best episode that DWTS has ever had!
That’s the train-wreck mother of the year I suppose people are tuning in to watch. How do we let trash like this on television? Like mother, like daughter I suppose. Bristol is selling herself in any form or fashion just like Sarah to make that money. She pays a ghost-writer to slap together blog entries on hot-button issues to shamelessly promote herself. Her limited vocabulary shines through in Tripp’s favorite words. Talk about some successful capitalists- all body and no brains. See how far they’re willing to go for the cash at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/06/ecstasy-of-sar...
How exactly did Bristol Palin "flop"? The judges raved that it was her best dance yet, and gave her her highest scores yet.
You liberals lie when the truth would work better. The diseased and dangerous liberal ideology has infected the entire world, and the world is worse because of it.
We get it, you hate Bristol's mom because she's an existentialist threat to not only Obama, but the entire liberal agenda. She's been a highly successful Mayor and Governor and has tens of millions of supporters. Don't take your hateful bias out on Bristol and Mark Ballas.
