Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey: 'Idol' Smackdown Caught on Tape

Singers Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey got into a verbal battle royale at the "American Idol" auditions in Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday. In a video obtained by TMZ, Nicki hurls threats and obscenities at Mariah.

TMZ also said the argument escalated off camera. Nicki supposedly yelled, "If I had a gun I would shoot her," but producer Nigel Lythgoe told the press that the death threat never happened. "The statement [that Nicki made a death threat] is absolute rubbish. It's absolutely not true in any way, shape or form," he said.
According to Splash, Mariah started the fight by calling Nicki a “b**ch,” causing the younger singer to storm off. When producers finally convinced Minaj to return, Carey continued hurling insults, causing the 29-year-old to attack.

Poor Keith Urban was literally caught in the middle of the fight and at one point he just threw his hands up in the air, baffled. Producers halted auditions for the day so the two judges could settle down.

This is dumb...two grown ass women acting like kids. I know it for publicity but its getting too old fast!!!
Like i said,its all for ratings which isnt doing as well as before. These two worked together before on a video. They are acting this way to draw attention to the show. Its not good attention but definately getting talked about. Its all fake you can tell. It isnt a contest between the two just foolery (drama)to get ratings!!

This is totally un called for. They are getting paid millions of dollares to do a job. Now the problem is we have two princess on the panel. Mariah has been know to be a nasty to her fans well someone giving here a little of her own attitude. They both great artist, both very different, you can't say one is better then another they both good, successful and very different. Someone had to stand up to Mariah, she not as sweet as she wants you to think. However Ms. Nicki need to act getto on here ass. Sometime simply words and action work better. Maria is a much better artist then Nicki has ever thought of being!! Nicki has NO CLASS what so ever!! I feel bad for Keith though as he is stuck in the middle and has to sit by the crazy person I don't dare call her a lady cause she is FAR from a lady!! I have never liked her nor will I ever start liking her after listing to these rants!! GET RID OF HER I don't know why they ever hired her in the 1st place!! I am still shaking my head over that!!
When AI airs live, I hope NM is booed or just ignored for her mishandling of things. What advice can she give other than to have gimmicks (whacky hair, weird expressions).

Firstly, Mariah needs to get over herself, and secondly Nicki just needs to ignore her.
Sure, i'm incredibly biased because I've never liked Carey's music, like ever and She's probably a really good vocalist. But most, if not all, of the songs she has sung are not worth making, buying or listening too. On the other hand Nicki is an individual, who brings something new to the table, she dresses differently, speaks differently and THE best selling female rapper of all time! Seriously, what has Carey got over Nicki really? a better education? so what? education doesn't matter in the long run, in this business you've either got it or you don't and it doesn't matter where you come from! And not to mention it was a HUGE mistake putting 'Her highness' Mariah on American Idol. My rant is now over x
Not very ladylike on either of their parts. Come on women you can do better than this. Stick together you two; divided you both fall. Yes, Mariah has the better voice and many awards but she shouldn't be looking down her nose at Nicki and Nicki should mind her manners; there's such a thing as paying respect to someone not only older but wiser and more accomplished in her art. Not nice to see two nice people acting like fighting cats. Poor Keith, I'll bet he wishes he'd never taken the job.
