September 06, 2012 Avocados
Chef Roberto Santibanez stopped by The Grove to talk with “Extra’s” Mario Lopez about delicious and nutritious avocados from Mexico, which are available year-round.

Take a look!

Avocados are an extremely versatile fruit that can be eaten alone or used in a variety of tasty recipes -- from soups and salads to smoothies and desserts.

Fresh avocados contribute good fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats) to one’s diet. Eating them on sandwiches or as a spread on toast may help reduce your intake of calories, fat, saturated fat, sodium and cholesterol.

One ounce (or three slices) of an avocado has 50 calories and contributes nearly 20 vitamins and minerals, making it a good choice to help meet nutrient needs.
