Casting News: Robert Pattinson as Lawrence of Arabia
Even in the midst of his personal life upheaval, actor Robert Pattinson is still looking to broaden his “Twilight” horizons.
Variety reports Pattinson has joined the cast of Werner Herzog's indie "Queen of the Desert," which will star Naomi Watts as famed English writer and explorer Gertrude Bell.
The film follows Bell, who at the turn of the 20th century was an integral member of the British Empire as they defined the borders of Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Bell was also good friends with T.E. Lawrence, a British Army officer and writer, dubbed Lawrence of Arabia, and the duo helped establish the Hashemite dynasties in Jordan and Iraq.
Pattinson recently made his first public appearance since news that his “Twilight” sweetie Kristen Stewart cheated on him. He is currently in NYC promoting his new film, “Cosmopolis."
