Gabby Douglas' Dad Arrested Before Olympics

As US Women’s Gymnastic gold medalist Gabby Douglas trained hard for her Olympic victory, her father, Timothy Douglas, was being arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Gabby revealed to reporters her father abandoned her family years ago, leaving them in a financial bind.
But the young gymnast did not seemed troubled when “Extra” sat down with her and mother, Natalie Hawkins, in London this week, talking about how her win hasn’t sunken in yet -- and what President Obama told her when he called.
Gabby smiled, “He told me congratulations and keep up the good work, and he was like, ‘just keep shining and never lose your smile.’" She added, "I dreamed of living this moment, but I don't think you can ever prepare yourself for being in this moment."
The Olympic champ also received congratulations from the cast of “The Vampire Diaries,” her favorite show.

Is anyone really surprised? Jizz donor muh-diks a boonlet, and keeps it in da fambly. Is this why NBC forced this Gabby thing down everyones' throats? It wasn't even the top medalist on its own squad!
I really feel that all American reporter dig up mess about anybody whenever they win an honor. Is this their way of trying to shown that the winner is no more than they are or what. They should leave all the negative things right where they belong, out of the picture. I'am not just saying this because I am Black, they do it to all of the Sports, Entertainer and I mean just anybody. Get a little God in your life and you'll live a little longer to report on everyone.
I think Gabby is extremely beautiful, her smile Light up the room and her attitude is Awesome! No matter her past it's who she is that matters! Congratulations!!!
The tiring story of every black man abandoning his kids and refusing to support them financially is one that the media is relentless in telling. The claim that Gabby’s dad “didn’t want to pay child support” might very well be due to the fact that he faced financial struggles and simply was not able to. Why is everyone is so eager to label him as a deadbeat who never cared, returning after years of neglect to collect on credit and fame for his daughters Olympic accomplishments?
