Sofia Vergara: Engaged or Not?

“Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara flashed what looked like an engagement ring while vacationing in Mexico on Tuesday, but new reports say she may not actually be betrothed to boyfriend Nick Loeb.

"As of today, Sofia is not engaged,” an unnamed Mexico-based rep for the star told People Espanol.

Loeb supposedly proposed to Sofia at the Mayan archeological ruins of Chichen Itza with an entire birthday entourage. She was in town celebrating her 40th (July 10).

In between sightseeing trips -- the two, along with Sofia’s son, family and friends -- celebrated at Rosewood Mayakoba Spa Resort in the Riviera Maya. Her hotel beachfront birthday party for 90 included famous faces like “Modern Family” co-stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen and Sarah Hyland.

Sofia and Nick split up in May, but were rumored to be back on after they hit the town together in June. The actress famously stood by her man after a car crash in August 2010 and again when he considered running for Florida U.S. Senate.
