Katy Perry: 'I Will Always Let Love Lead the Way'

June 22, 2012 As Seen On Extra

Singer Katy Perry sat down with “Extra’s” Mario Lopez to talk about her 14-month marriage to Russell Brand, her sheltered childhood, and her new movie, “Part of Me.”

The pop star told Mario her relationship with Brand was a "rich lesson learned" and "just because we're in the spotlight doesn't mean the problems go away -- actually they get magnified."

Katy holds nothing back in her documentary, showing the 27-year-old at her most vulnerable, as she sobs backstage just before a show. “It was really important to me to have those hard-to-swallow moments in the film,” she explained.

Perry is enjoying a new romance with Florence and the Machine guitarist Rob Ackroyd, and she’s not opposed to getting married again and having kids.

“I don't rule out the idea,” she said. “Of course not. I will always let love lead the way.”

Katy also took a moment to look back at her strict upbringing, confessing to Mario that she was allowed to watch “Sister Act 2” growing up, but not the first film.

“I think it was because Whoopi Goldberg was a hooker in the first one and still in the convent in the second one,” Perry explained.

If “Sister Act” was too racy, then forget about ‘Pretty Woman.” “Oh my gosh! I just saw ‘Pretty Woman’ for the first time, literally a month ago!” she confided.

"Part of Me" pops up in theatres on July 5. Watch the trailer!
