Singer John Mayer said he had his feelings hurt when Taylor Swift released her telling tribute song “Dear John.” The artist confessed to Rolling Stone that he was “really humiliated.”

"It made me feel terrible," Mayer told the magazine, on newsstands Friday. "Because I didn't deserve it. I'm pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do."

He also admitted he was blindsided by the lyrics. "I never got an e-mail. I never got a phone call," he said. "I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I'd already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you've ever been, someone kicked you even lower?"

When it comes to the line, "Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?" -- Mayer isn’t talking. "I don't want to go into that."

John, who released his new album “Born and Raised” on May 22, called Swift’s song “cheap songwriting.”

"I know she's the biggest thing in the world, and I'm not trying to sink anybody's ship, but I think it's abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, 'Wait ‘til he gets a load of this!' That's bullshit."

John, 34, and Taylor, 22, dated in 2010.

John Mayer has been known to treat women badly.Everyone knows that Taylor writes her songs about her life.IF you are a boyfriend and hurt her she will write about it,That is a known fact.Maybe John Mayer should think about how badly he treats the women he dates.Taylor swift's song is far from cheap. It was her feelings and he is the one who made her feel that way.So suck it up John and stop whining!

John, you humiliate me just by looking at you. Get over it, you're a grown man dating a girl 12 years younger than you. Start dating people closer to your age and maybe you won't feel so humiliated.

While I understand his point, 'Dear John' is a song written by a very young woman, who in her mind is burned by love. Not warning him of her song seems like a junior high ploy for vengeance...yet it works artfully by intriguing press to make different commentary on the mostly spotless singer/songstress' image. Wouldn't making comments like this boost her vehement supporters rather than cause anyone to question her? In addition, putting himself in a position that seems at odds for her also gives him more face-time on people's radars. There is a delicate balancing act happening here behind the scenes. Whether it's intentional or not, we may never know. I agree that she is using a cheap trick to cause intrigue, but John Mayer-you left Twitter to better focus your word-craft and abilities; are you really making these kinds of comments on someone whose stardom depends on social media when you yourself recognized how draining and plastic those outlets can make a musician? You should have called her after she released it to confront the lack of integrity rather than expecting a real Jiminy Cricket to guide her on the right thing to do when stardom is calling.

Maybe John Mayer should think about the things he has said about his ex's before he starts the "woe be me"

John Mayer needs to get over it, whose is he trying to kid, Taylor Swift is a much bigger star than he is, John Mayer has a new album coming out soon, the best thing that could ever happen to him is "Taylor Swift wrote a song about him", he would have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for that kind of free publicity. So John Mayer get over yourself and take some singing lessons from Taylor Swift.
