Amar'e Stoudemire and Alexis Welch Engaged!
New York Knicks captain Amar’e Stoudemire is engaged! The basketball player proposed to his girlfried Alexis Welch on Saturday night while the couple vacationed in Paris, reports People.
Stoudemire tweeted the happy news, posting, “Paris, the food, & lights were very romantic. When she said yes, it was surreal. I’m still floating.”
He presented her with an 8.5-carat radiant cut sparkler worth more than $1 million while overlooking the Eiffel Tower outside their penthouse at Le Meurice Hotel Belle Etoile Royal Suite.
"I have been planning my proposal for a while and overlooking the entire Paris skyline seemed like a perfect place,” Stoudemire told People. “I am so happy she said 'yes,' and now we can continue to build our life together as husband and wife.”
The pair, who met in 2002, have three children together and plan to wed in 2013.
