Samberg told the New York Times, "It's an incredibly emotional and strange moment in my life. Obviously it's not a huge shock, but I did officially decide not to come back... (It was) one of the hardest decisions I've ever made."

The funnyman spent seven seasons on "SNL" and is the brains behind the show's star-studded digital short movies. He is perhaps most remembered for his "D**K in a Box" comedy video with Justin Timberlake.

Is Andy leaving to focus on his movie career? On June 15, he will star alongside former "SNL" alum Adam Sandler in "That's My Boy."
