“American Idol” winner Phillip Phillips will not undergo kidney surgery Tuesday, as scheduled, because the singer has a high fever.

TMZ reports Phillips has a bad sinus infection and the surgeon has decided to hold off on the kidney operation until next week.

The “Idol” champ suffers from a serious congenital kidney condition that produces kidney stones so large they cannot pass. He has had eight prior surgeries.

He told “Extra’s” Terri Seymour this last operation should correct the problem before he goes on tour with his fellow “Idol” finalists. “It will fix me all up and make me better so I'm looking forward to it."
