Reese Witherspoon Asks to Put Her Dad Under Conservatorship
Actress Reese Witherspoon appeared in a Tennessee court on Friday, asking a probate judge to put her father under a conservatorship, due to his mental incapacity.
This stems from a bigamy lawsuit Reese's mother, Betty, filed this week, claiming the Oscar-winner's father, John, illegally married another woman earlier this year.
Witherspoon’s parents have been separated since 1996 but never filed for divorce. Betty is asking for an annulment.
In court documents, Betty Witherspoon also has said she fears her husband suffers from early onset dementia and has a drinking problem. John reportedly doesn’t remember getting married to other woman.
Reese and her brother asked the judge to place her father under a conservatorship. A judge has yet to rule.
