Stars Rally for Sick 9-11 Rescue Workers

April 18, 2012 Stars Give Back
Actors Melanie Griffith, Danny Masterton and Bijou Phillips offer their support for the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project.

The project was founded in New York City in 2003 with the goal of treating firefighters and other rescue workers for toxins inhaled at Ground Zero. Another related project, the Gulf Coast Detoxification Project, helps individuals affected by the Gulf oil spill.

where is the documentation that "1000" firefighters were helped by this dangerous "detox" program??? No where. The facts are that the high levels of Niacin alone, that is part of this non-scientific or medical treatment, can cause liver damage. The rest of this program is also very unfounded by medical studies.

I agree with Alice and Justin. The purification rundown is not a scientifically, peer reviewed, process nor is it supported by the medical community. It is supported by Scientology, a religion that is highly controversial and generally considered a cult because of its requirements that members pay exorbitant amounts of money for "services" and for its well documented policies of isolating its members from their friends and families, amongst others. Wikipedia has a detailed,w ell sourced explanation of the purification from contributors that are likely to be from both sides of the argument: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Rescue_Workers_Deto...

The truth is the truth, whether you agree with it or not, it is what it is. The fact that 1000 firefighters claim to be helped by this program and have been shown by medical testing and documention to be vastly improved, is simply a fact, not an opinion, like that of a naysayer.

Find out for yourself. Look up Scientology.org. Test out some of the basic principles. See for yourself. Another sad fact, is that some people simply are against any true help of any kind.

There are No true Medically educated people who support or view this as "helpful" in anyway. I did the Purif. It is a dangerous, faulty, made-up activity. A non-educated, abusive, man, L.r. Hubbard, invented this absurd program. I am NOT anonymous. I am someone who knows the truth about the destructive cult of scientology. Just read about the high doses of Niacin, and other non healthy parts of this "program." THAT ALONE SHOULD SEND DANGER SIGNALS TO ALL INVESTIGATING THIS. Also, about: "helping people worldwide" - are you kidding? Helping people to lose money and families, world wide, would be the true statement.

Always nice to see the ANONYMOUS internet posters trying to deride a group that actually helps people worldwide. I have done this program & had an incredible amount of benefit from it. And the other folks adding their support know a good thing when they see it & ignore the inflaming comments from the little people who want to stop true help from reaching people. oh & btw there is plenty of documentation that there are Doctors who support the program & know it's benefits.

Extra should feel embarrassed to run this without any research or critical reaction just because celebrities in a cult endorse it.

Please be aware that this "detox" program has NO MEDICAL worth. There are no licensed doctors or medically trained persons conducting this "program." It is extremely dangerous to encourage the first responders, people who risked their lives, to continue to bring jeopardy to their own health by not going to licensed medical treatment; and instead going to this faulty, and destructive system. Scientology is a documented, destructive cult. They are not to be praised or regarded with any respect. Please research the damage that Scientology has done. and their total lack of any financial aid to any in need in the world.
