'Idol' Recap: Clay Aiken Calls Jessica Sanchez 'Future Legend'

April 12, 2012 American Idol
On Wednesday night's "American Idol," judges praised Jessica Sanchez, who belted Jazmine Sullivan's "Stuttering," and gave a standing ovation to Joshua Ledet, who celebrated his 20th birthday with the up-tempo "Runaway Baby" by Bruno Mars.

The Week 7 finalists, who sang songs of the past three years, were mentored by Clay Aiken. The former "Idol" runner-up pegged Sanchez, 16, as a standout from before the final 13 were selected, saying, "She's gonna be a legend one day. I believe it. I really do."

After Sachez's performance Steven Tyler said, "You slay it every time. Not only do you have the nerve to sing that song with such a beautiful melody, you have the nerve to wear Jennifer's shoes."

Looking down at her $1,595 Christian Louboutin asteroid spike-toe pumps, Lopez laughed and said, "She's got good taste, what do you want?"

Other top finalists include Skylar Laine, who kicked off the show with Kellie Pickler's "Didn't Know How Much I Loved You," and Phillips and Elise Testone who harmonized a duet to Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know."

Tune in Thursday to see who is going home on "American Idol"!
