Peter Facinelli's First Words on Divorce: 'It's Painful'

Actor Peter Facinelli co-hosted "LIVE! with Kelly" with Kelly Ripa on Tuesday and opened up for the first time about his difficult split from wife Jennie Garth.

"I recently got divorced from my wife, which has been very painful" said Facinelli. The show was airing from Banff.

The "Twilight" and "Nurse Jackie" star went on to say, "It's very painful to break up with somebody especially after you've been together for 17 years and you have kids. It's even more painful when it's played out in the media. I've tried to stay really quiet about it for the sake of my kids."

He and Garth have three daughters; Luca, 14, Lola, 9 and Fiona, 5. "Jen and I are doing really well. I love her and she'll always be in my life. We're dedicated to being great parents."
