'DWTS' Performances: Maria and Derek Steam Up the Dance Floor

April 02, 2012 Dancing With The Stars

It was an emotional Monday on "Dancing with the Stars," with tears, touching moments -- and the first 10s of the season - as the contestants picked dances and songs that represented memorable years in their lives.

"Extra's" Maria Menounos and partner Derek Hough received the first highest scores of the evening, performing a very sexy rumba to a slowed-down version of the Madonna song "Material Girl." It's Maria's favorite song from when she was a girl and went to work cleaning nightclubs with her Greek parents. The judges awarded the pair nine points apiece, for a total of 27.

Watch the sexy performance!

Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas performed a waltz that the singer dedicated to her father, whom she lost to lung cancer. They earned 29 points -- the season's top score so far.

Check it out... and try to keep a dry eye.

William Levy and Cheryl Burke also scored a 10 - landing a point behind Jenkins and Ballas with 28 points - for their salsa, which represented 1995, the year Levy came to the U.S. from Cuba.

Take a look... um, just plain wow!

The 11 remaining "Dancing with the Stars" couples will face elimination Tuesday.
