The smash hit "The Hunger Games" isn't starving for money.

The film -- starring Jennifer Lawrence as a girl forced to fight an annual event which pits teenagers against one another in a battle to the death -- grossed a historic $155 million in its opening-weekend debut, says studio estimates.

The Friday-Sunday take is the third biggest in Hollywood history, behind only the $169.2-million opening for the final "Harry Potter" installment and the $158.4-million launch of "The Dark Knight." That means "The Hunger Games" also grossed more on its opening weekend than any other non-sequel.
