Trailer! 'The Hobbit' Adventure Will Begin... Next Year

Peter Jackson's trailer for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" was released Tuesday -- a year ahead of the film's release.

Fans get a taste of the much-anticipated fantasy adventure, as the teaser begins with the elderly Bilbo Baggins, played by Ian Holm, writing to his nephew, Frodo. Along with Holm, other actors reprising their roles from "Lord of the Rings" include Ian McKellan as Gandalf, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, and Elijah Wood as Frodo.

"The Hobbit" is the first of two movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien's books of the same name. The film is scheduled for release on Dec. 14, 2012.
