Kate Winslet on Divorce and Parenting: 'It's Unconventional Now'
Stunning actress Kate Winslet is on the cover of the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar, and she's more graceful and comfortable with herself than ever.
In the candid interview with the fashion mag, Winslet discusses being twice divorced and her modern role as a parent to her two kids, Mia, 11, and Joe, 7.
Kate's first marriage was to Jim Threapleton, which yielded daughter Mia Honey. The couple split in 2001.
The "Contagion" star wed director Sam Mendes in 2003 before ending the relationship in March of last year, and revealed, "It is what it is. We're grown-ups at the end of the day, and however hard it's been for me, it's been equally hard for him. And we have a child [Joe] together who we both love -- and raising him together, jointly and without any conflict, is absolutely key."
Kate added, "Those days of every child having a mummy and daddy who lived at home -- Daddy went to work, and Mummy stayed at home and took care of everyone -- those days have almost gone, and it's so much more unconventional now."
The Oscar-winning beauty will star alongside Emma Stone in "Movie 43" next year. The November issue of Harper's Bazzar is on newsstands October 6.
