Nurse Jamie Road Tests Toners and Has a DIY Recipe!

August 31, 2011 Nurse Jamie

Celebrity skin care specialist Nurse Jamie Sherrill road tests toners and reveals the truth about them. "Unless you have extremely oily or acne-prone skin, you don't really need to tone," she reveals.

If your skin type does require a toner, Nurse Jamie recommends French brand, Biologique Recherche, which is a "top-of-the-line cult favorite. A-lister celebrity makeup artists swear by this stuff."

For a mid-range option, Clinique's Clarifying Lotion is a good brand that doesn't leave your skin too dry.

An even cheaper option is Alba, which is her drugstore pick for a toner. "It's hypo-allergenic and paraben-free."

Nurse Jamie also says making your own toner at home is inexpensive and works! "All you need is a bottle of witch hazel and non-coated aspirin."

Here is the simple recipe!

- One 16-oz. bottle of witch hazel

- 8 -10 uncoated aspirin (depending on the size of the bottle)

- Dissolve aspirins in the witch hazel

- Shake and mix well
