July 07, 2011 Lifechangers

"Extra" Lifechanger and Hollywood A-lister Sharon Stone, raised $100K for the National Down Syndrome Society at the organization's 2011 Spring Luncheon in NYC.

Stone revealed to "Extra's" AJ Calloway she became involved in the charity thanks to a special person in her life. "When I was a kid, I babysat for my longtime, now dear friend, Jimmy Burkhart."

Sharon paid tribute to Jimmy, whom she's known for over 40 years, and recalled babysitting for the then-mischievous Burkhart. "He put the garden hose in his father's gas tank when I was in the other room and I got in kind of a lot of trouble for that," Stone remembered, adding, "We have had a pretty spectacular relationship and we've been friends for a long time."

The actress excitedly said, "Many things have changed in the world of Down syndrome, and lots of advancements have been made."
