"Extra" was in New York for Monday night's Savage Beauty-themed event at the Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala. Hollywood A-listers glittered in exquisite gowns displaying an array of sequins, feathers, metallics and bold colors at one of the most sophisticated events in fashion, this year paying tribute to late designer Alexander McQueen.

Wearing a 2005 McQueen creation, Sarah Jessica Parker revealed, "They let me borrow it for tonight. I'm very touched and flattered to be wearing it. It will be back in the McQueen archives tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM."

Trendsetter Jennifer Lopez made a grand entrance wearing an eye-popping red Gucci gown with matching floral bolero, holding Mark Anthony's hand. As the couple began to walk upstairs -- with J.Lo positioned one step above her husband, Anthony said, "This is all I need to look shorter" telling our camera crew, "You need to establish the steps."

Among the glamorous crowd, the risk-takers stood out; Beyonce in a mermaid-inspired Pucci number so tight she needed husband Jay Z to help her up the stairs! Apparently, she couldn't stand up very well either, and quickly moved past photographers, who booed the singer for not posing long enough.

Wearing a silky satin blue dress and arriving fashionably late, Madonna walked the red carpet, telling "Extra," "My friend Stella [McCartney] designed it for me and the reason why I'm late is because they were sewing stars to my ass."
