Lifechangers: Steps to Get America Healthy

April 14, 2011 Lifechangers

"Extra" Lifechangers teams up with "The Biggest Loser" host Alison Sweeney and "Walk with Walgreens" to help get America in better shape. Just 30 minutes of walking each day can reduce your risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

Did you know 1,700 steps equal a mile? "We want to encourage people to walk half an hour every single day. You can walk with your kids, your friends, there's really no excuse not to fit it in. It's a half-hour and it can make a huge difference in your health," Sweeney tells "Extra."

Walgreens is adding incentives for those who want to start walking. "Go to walk.walgreens.com and they'll help you track your steps and come up with walking routes in your neighborhood. If you log in and register they're going to offer you coupons and rewards for everyone who is a member," Alison explains.
